MURČO VIRŠÍKOVÁ, Klára
The bachelor thesis named Nutrition and its effect on the performance of extreme obstacle course racers aims to find out what effect nutrition has on the performance of extreme obstacle course racers and compares the change of the performance in the group of respondents with a fixed eating plan and in the group of respondents with no special eating plan. The theoretical part deals with the nutrition in sport and extreme obstacle races. For the research a quantitative method was used. The research file was made of two groups with two people in each group. The age of respondents was between 20 and 42 years. Each group consisted of one man and one woman. All four respondents were active athletes. One group had no special eating plan and respondents wrote down everything what they ate during the whole month and the other group had a fixed eating plan made in Nutriservis Professional program which respondents strictly followed. The whole research lasted one month and all respondents were tested on InBody device at the beginning and at the end of the research. They also took part in physical tests. During the research respondents had common trainings twice a week and then they had the same individual trainings to minimize differences in the preparation. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to point out the importance of nutrition in the preparation for extreme obstacle races. Results of the research definitely show that respondents with the fixed eating plan had really better results in the end of the research. In the future this thesis could be useful in the preparation of racers for extreme obstacle races. This assignment is based on professional literature available on this topic.

Nutrition of professional sportsmen
VACHOUTOVÁ, Petra
The aim of this bachelor thesis was to map the nutrition of top sportsmen. The thesis is divided in 2 parts; theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part we dealt with nutrition of top athletes in comparison with the general population. In the practial part we have chosen two groups of professional bodybuilders and footballers. For the research questions we used the qualitative method. Research questions are as follows: RQ 1: What are the eating habits of professional sportsmen? RQ 2: Which foods are indispensable for professional sportsmen? RQ 3: What supplements do professional sportsmen use? RQ 4: What do professional sportsmen think about doping? The data were collected using a semi-structured interview. The interviews were attended by seven bodybuilders from the Pilsen region and seven footballers from the Olomouc and Pilsen regions. The informants were chosen by the snowball sampling technique. Four charts in categories were created from the interview data, the individual subcategories were described and compared between two selected sports disciplines: bodybuilding and football. The results are showing us that the nutrition of top athletes is subject to certain rules, but it is important to mention the individuality we have faced in each sport discipline in all aspects. Nutrition of athletes cannot be considered as a healthy lifestyle and the food supplements are an integral part of the nutrition of professional athletes. Doping is perceived as a negative element of sports on a professional level. The output of this work is also an educational leaflet with recommendations of suitable eating habits not only for top athletes.

Protein in the diet of athletes
Zemanová, Kristýna ; Hučko, Boris (advisor) ; Kodeš, Alois (referee)
Protein plays an important role in an athlete's regeneration, recovery and muscle growth. Unlike fat and carbohydrates, proteins are irreplaceable in our diet. The muscle tissue is composed primarily of proteins, so most athletes believe that higher protein intake will result in faster muscle growth. However, an excessive amount of protein is linked to fatigue, higher strain on kidneys and liver, loss of large amounts of water and potassium ions. Furthermore, high level of protein intake causes excretion of certain vitamins and minerals (e. g. calcium, zinc, B vitamins). The human body is unable to effectively process more then 2 to 2.5 g of protein per kilogram of body weight. Recommended daily protein dietary allowance is 0.8 to 1.2 g/kg for a sedentary person, 1.2 to 2 g/kg for athletes, approximately 1.2 to 1.4 g/kg for endurance athletes, and for heavy resistance training athletes increased protein intake of 1.6 to 1.7 g/kg is recommended. Meat and dairy products contain complete proteins that have an ideal ratio of essential amino acids well suited for human dietary needs. In contrast, proteins derived from plant food contain only incomplete proteins. One must combine multiple plant sources to achieve sufficient amounts of all essential amino acids. There is no need for protein supplements as long as we eat a well-balanced diet. Most athletes, however, use whey proteins to boost regeneration and muscle growth. It is particularly valued for its easy digestibility. Therefore, it is recommended to be taken right after training (at doses of 0.3 g/kg body weight) when the digestive tract is not capable of processing complex food. Increased levels of amino acids in blood soon after consumption are required for effective muscle protein synthesis.
